After almost 11 hours and more than 10.000 km we arrived in Singapore. The New York City of the Asian World. The Little India area gave us shelter for 4 nights. This backpackers area is packed with Indians and Vegetarian restaurants. Somehow they get along very well. The right time of the year for amusement it was indeed...
Firstly we went with Duck tours for a ride in a special bus through town and afterwards this bus went on the water to show us the hotspots such as the Lion Fountain, related to the name 'Singa', which means lion in Tamil language. Apparently the first explorers thought they did see this animal, although there have never been lions on the island, maybe it could have been an Malayan tiger. Secondly we went for the scenic Russian wheel "the Singapore Flyer' up to 120 meters around to see the skyline.

Thirdly we saw on Saturday night the biggest live street parade of Asia : Chingay. It looked like every college had a special dance and outfit for this celebration of the Chinese New Year of the Dragon. So finally we did not really miss Carnaval that much, because they were also pretty funny and amusing. Especially the 1000 people that master the Kung Fu skills were impressive. They did a simultaneous Singapore ShowDown all at once.Ofcourse in the end we got plenty of fireworks. And all of this at the beautiful bay with its magnificent Skyline. ![]()
On Sunday 5th of February, to pleasure the needs of my dearest travel companion, we went up to the 250meter viewpoint of the latest and greatest hotel "the Sands". Indeed a big weekend of big spending, I mean big sight-seeing!

On our last day we went to Universal Studios and went on many rollercoaster rides we will not forget. The Shrek 4D experience also made us laugh and scream out loud.
